The visual builder
Building a section by dragging parts into place, saving as you go, and publishing it.
The visual builder is an optional part of StoreSpan. When it is not turned on for your store, the Visual builder content type is not offered and this page does not apply.
Opening it
Two ways:
- In the injectable form, pick the content type Visual builder. The builder appears inside the form, and once the injectable is saved an Open full-screen builder link appears.
- Open the injectable and use the full-screen builder page, titled Visual builder — (name).
The builder layout
- Left: a Palette of parts to place, a Library of starters (Templates, Blocks and Components), and an Outline of what is on the canvas.
- Centre: the Canvas, or a start screen while it is empty.
- Right: the Inspector for the selected part.
The palette groups parts into Layout, Content, Media and Commerce. Layout parts include sections, rows, columns, grids and stacks. Content parts include headings, text, buttons, links, quotes, lists, spacers and dividers. Media parts include images, icons, galleries, carousels and video. Commerce parts include product cards, prices, ratings, badges, countdowns, add-to-cart buttons and category tiles. A few groups are held back while they are refined; parts already placed from them keep working.
Saving
In the full-screen builder your work is saved as a draft on its own, shortly after each change, and a small status label tells you where things stand: All changes published, Saving…, Draft saved, Save failed — retrying on your next edit or This draft changed in another tab. A copy is also kept in the tab itself, so a closed tab does not lose the last edits. Inside the injectable form, the builder saves when you save the form.
Publishing
The full-screen builder has its own bar with an Unpublished changes badge, who edited last, Publish and Discard draft. If the same draft was changed in another session, the builder asks you to reload so both sets of changes stay safe. When the contrast guard is turned on for your store, publishing text that is hard to read against its background asks you to confirm with Publish anyway.
Showing on the storefront
Even a published builder section shows on the storefront only when builder rendering is turned on for your store. If it is not, ask whoever runs StoreSpan for you.
