Preview
Seeing an injectable before it is live, pretending to be a visitor from somewhere else, and sharing a preview link.
The Live preview card shows for inline content that is not an A/B test. It renders your content in a sandboxed frame inside the dashboard, so nothing you put there runs in your dashboard session.
Pretend to be a visitor
Above the frame you can set what the preview should assume about the visitor. Each control defaults to Use the real visitor value.
- Country and an optional Region.
- When the delivery route evaluates rules: Page type, Segment, Customer group (or No group (guest)), Visitor type, Device and Currency (or No currency (undetected)).
Force visibility (render regardless of targeting) shows the content even when the rules would hide it. Leave it off to see what a visitor would really get.
What the headline tells you
The preview explains itself in one line:
- Would show…: the rules match.
- Matches your targeting — it isn't live, so it won't serve to customers: the rules match, but the injectable is not published.
- Hidden — because …: a rule failed, with the reason.
- Forced — N bypassed: you forced it, and N conditions were skipped.
Under the headline every condition is listed as met or not met. Some conditions can only be checked on the live store, and the preview says so.
What each content type shows
- A script shows its source; it runs only on the storefront.
- A countdown shows a frozen sample frame; it ticks only on the storefront.
- Templates and custom blocks fill placeholders with sample visitor data; the live storefront uses each visitor's own values.
- A preset, a mega menu or a block stack that resolves to nothing shows a note saying there is nothing to preview.
- A block stack that is too large for widget delivery shows a size warning. See Limits.
The preview holds only the injectable itself, not your live page, so the wrapper element, external CSS and the exact position show only on the storefront.
Sharing a preview
Until the draft is saved, the card says Save the draft to share a preview link. After saving it offers a link that carries the visitor settings and the force flag, so a colleague sees the same thing.
