Labels on one image
Editing the labels of a single image, what the caption preview means, and resetting to the synced labels.
Every image card, on the Images page, the bulk edit page and a product's Images tab, has an Edit labels button.
Editing labels
- Press Edit labels on the card.
- A searchable picker opens. Tick the labels the image should carry and untick the ones it should not.
- The product's own colours are offered as a quick group at the top, so you can give an image its colour in one click.
- To create a type label that does not exist yet, type its name and use the create row in the picker.
The change is saved straight away. There is no separate save button.
What BigCommerce will get
Labels are written into the image's description on BigCommerce by the label sync. While you edit, the picker shows what that description will be.
For an image that has no description yet, the picker says No description yet; BigCommerce will get: followed by the text it will write. If it cannot build one, it tells you why:
- No description yet; nothing will be written to BigCommerce until this image has a label.
- No description yet; nothing will be written to BigCommerce until this image has a description or its product has a name.
Reset to synced labels
If you changed an image's labels by hand, the picker shows a Reset to synced labels link. It puts the labels back to the set that its current caption on BigCommerce describes. The link is hidden while an image's labels match its caption.
Labels in the caption
StoreSpan reads labels out of an image's existing description when they are written as color:
and type: entries. That is how an image you never touched in the dashboard can already show
labels.
