A product's images
Reordering images, grouping them by colour, the thumbnail rule, selecting several at once, and deleting.
Open a product from Catalog › Products, then open its Images tab. This is where you manage one product's images.
The toolbar
From left to right:

Reordering
Drag an image, or use its move buttons.
- In a single colour's view you reorder that colour's images.
- In the all-colours view of a product with several colours, you reorder the colour blocks, not the single images. The page says so: Reorder the color groups above to set the gallery order; pick a color to reorder its images.
- A product with one colour has one order.
Some images stay put on purpose. The page tells you which rule applies:
- The hero image stays first.
- The primary image stays first in its colour.
- This colour stays first because it has the hero image.
The thumbnail
BigCommerce shows one image as the product thumbnail. StoreSpan sets it, through the Image order write-back, to the image labelled Hero, otherwise the first image labelled Primary, otherwise the first image of the first colour. The chosen tile carries a badge such as Thumbnail · Hero, Thumbnail · Primary or Thumbnail · First colour.
Select mode
Press Select. The button changes to Done, reordering pauses (Reordering is paused while you select.), and a bar appears with:
- The count, or Nothing selected yet.
- Select all shown, which ticks exactly the images the current filters leave on screen. Filter first, then select all, to act on one colour or one type at once.
- Clear, Add label, Remove label, Delete and Done.
Add label and Remove label ask you to confirm in a dialog that names the label and the number of images and reminds you that their descriptions on BigCommerce are updated too. Creating a new label from here adds a note that it creates a new label for the store.
Deleting images
Deleting is permanent and removes the image on BigCommerce as well.
- One image: press Delete on its tile. The dialog Delete this image? says The image is deleted on BigCommerce too. This cannot be undone. Confirm with Delete image.
- Several images: in Select mode press Delete. The dialog Delete images? names the count and confirms with Delete N images. While it runs it shows Deleting… 3 of 12 and cannot be closed.
Large deletes go in batches
Images are deleted ten at a time. If BigCommerce answers slowly, the dialog may finish with some images left and tell you to try again for the rest.
Deleting, like importing, is switched off while the All writing to BigCommerce master switch is stopped. See Image settings.
