Image settings
Managing label names, the target image size, the variant image switches, and the write-back switches.
Image-related settings live in three places under Store › Settings: Images, Variant images and Writing to BigCommerce.
Image settings
Open Store › Settings › Images. The page opens with a reminder of its scope: Labels describe pictures. Tags that describe whole products live on the Tags page.
Type labels
A table of the type labels in the store, with their order, name and how many images use them.
- Add one with Add type label.
- Reorder with the up and down buttons. The order is the order labels are listed in pickers.
- Rename by editing the name and pressing Enter.
- Delete opens a dialog that says how many images across how many products lose the label and that their captions are rewritten in the background. This cannot be undone.
Two names are refused: a name that cannot be a label, and a name that already exists.
Colour labels
A table of the colour labels, with their usage and the colour tag each is linked to. Names are read-only: Colour names come from the product options in BigCommerce and follow them. Which product options count as colours is set on the Tags page, by giving a group the Colour attribute and attaching the options.
A colour label can show one of two notes:
- Not linked to a colour tag: press Link image colours on the Tags page after giving a group the Colour attribute.
- Stale: no product option carries this colour any more and no colour tag stands for it. A stale label gets a Delete button.
Target image size
Two number fields, Target width in pixels and Target height in pixels, with Save target and No target. This records a target size for the store's images. The dashboard does not yet show where this target is applied, so treat it as a stored preference for now.
Labels on BigCommerce
The store-wide label sync and the rule for which descriptions it rewrites. See Sending labels to BigCommerce. The button is Sync all labels with BigCommerce.
Variant images
Open Store › Settings › Variant images. Only the store owner can change these switches; other staff see them disabled.
The first switch is the same Variant images write-back switch that appears under Writing to BigCommerce. It decides whether StoreSpan writes variant images to BigCommerce at all.
The second switch is Remove a variant's image when its colour has no image:
- Off: a variant keeps the image it has on BigCommerce when its colour no longer has an image StoreSpan could use.
- On: StoreSpan removes that image on BigCommerce, so the variant shows the product's main image instead. Only images StoreSpan set itself are removed; an image you set yourself is left alone.
Flipping either switch asks you to confirm.
Try removal on one variant first
The page itself says that removing has not been tried against a live BigCommerce store yet. Turn it on for one variant, check the result, and only then rely on it.
Writing to BigCommerce
Open Store › Settings › Writing to BigCommerce. Each switch stops or starts one kind of write-back. Stopping keeps your changes in StoreSpan to send later; reading from BigCommerce always continues. Only the store owner can change them.

Each row shows Running or Stopped. A row held by the master switch says Stopped by the master switch above.
