Sending labels to BigCommerce

Labels live in StoreSpan. To make them useful outside the dashboard, StoreSpan writes them into each image's description on BigCommerce, in a fixed form with color: and type: entries. This is the label sync.

When it runsCopy Anchor Link

• In the background, shortly after you change labels.
• Once a day, for the whole store.
• When you press Sync labels with BigCommerce on a product's Images tab, or Sync all labels with BigCommerce on the Image settings page.

A large store can take a while. You can leave the page; the sync carries on.

Which descriptions are rewrittenCopy Anchor Link

This is the rule, exactly as the Image settings page states it:

• Every image you labelled in the app gets the description its labels make, even if its description was typed by hand.
• An image you did not label is rewritten only when its description already lists every label under color: or type:; then only the spelling changes, never the words.
• Images with no labels stay as they are.

Sync badgesCopy Anchor Link

An image card shows a badge until its labels are on BigCommerce:

• pending: the write is queued.
• A red badge with an error: the last write failed. Press Requeue write-back on the card to try again. You can list all such images with the Sync error filter on the Images page.

What the manual buttons sayCopy Anchor Link

• On a product: Nothing to sync right now. when every image is already up to date, or a note that N images were queued and BigCommerce gets the labels shortly.
• For the store: Sync started. BigCommerce gets the labels in the background; a large store can take a while.

The switch that controls itCopy Anchor Link

The Image labels switch under Store › Settings › Writing to BigCommerce stops or starts this write-back for the store. While it is stopped, labels you set stay in StoreSpan and are sent later when you start it again. See Image settings.
